Lucas Torreira has changed his position and now wishes to remain at Galatasaray, according to journalist Emre Kaplan on A Spor TV.

The Uruguayan midfielder had previously indicated his stint in Turkey would end in January, citing a lucrative Brazilian salary offer and his father’s health issues affecting performance. Recent improvements in his father’s condition and positive fan interactions have altered his stance.

Torreira, formerly of Arsenal, joined Galatasaray in August 2022 on an initial loan before making the move permanent. He signed a contract until 2026 after the club triggered his purchase option. Today, the 27-year-old is valued at approximately €15 million by transfer market estimates.

Despite the earlier signals of a departure, Torreira now shows no current desire to leave. His renewed commitment comes as a boost for the Istanbul side in their title defense.
