Galatasaray midfielder Lucas Torreira is set to leave the club at the end of the season, Turkish reporter Ali Naci Küçük has said. The Uruguay international has reportedly told people he works with during his time in Istanbul that he will not continue into next season.
According to the report, Torreira made the decision several months ago and communicated it clearly to members of his personal staff, advising them to begin preparing for his exit from the Turkish Super Lig champions.
The decision is described as personal and linked to Torreira's emotional life, not to any conflict with Galatasaray. He is said to have told those around him to look for new work because he would not be in Turkey beyond this campaign, the report indicates his preference is to return to South America. A move closer to his home country of Uruguay would allow him to be near family after spending the last three years abroad.
Torreira joined Galatasaray from Arsenal in the summer of 2022 and has been a consistent starter in central midfield. He has played a key role in the club's domestic success, helping them win back-to-back league titles with his energy and defensive work. The 30-year-old has made more than 120 appearances for the club.
