Sinan Engin: Osimhen Not Bigger Than Galatasaray

Former Beşiktaş midfielder Sinan Engin has hit out at Victor Osimhen, warning the Nigeria striker is not bigger than Galatasaray.

Speaking on Beyaz Futbol, Engin said Osimhen's influence has turned careless after a heavy defeat dented the club's title push. Galatasaray lost 4-1 to Samsunspor on May 2, 2026, a result that stopped them from sealing a third straight championship on the night.

"Victor Osimhen is not bigger than Galatasaray. He performed skillfully during his loan, and I held him in high regard. Regardless, he is now in conflict with the referee and his teammates."

Engin made attitude the core of his criticism, accusing Osimhen of arguing with referees and teammates instead of focusing on his game. He singled out the decisive error in the 68th minute, when Osimhen played an underhit back-pass that fell short of goalkeeper Günay Güvenç.

The keeper raced outside his area to intervene and was sent off for handling as the last man. Galatasaray were already trailing 2-1, but the red card ended any hope of a recovery and they conceded twice more to complete a damaging reverse.

The 27-year-old has been the club's standout attacker this season, scoring consistently since arriving from Italy. Despite the setback in Samsun, Galatasaray still leads the Süper Lig by four points with two games left.
