Galatasaray has signed a new 1+1-year contract with midfielder Mario Lemina, extending his stay in Turkey beyond this summer, according to Turkish media reports this week.
HT Spor and other outlets said the club activated the extension option in Lemina's existing deal, which was due to expire in June 2026. The renewed terms are expected to keep the 32-year-old Gabon international at the Super Lig club through 2027, with the additional year at the club's discretion.
Lemina rejoined Galatasaray in February 2025 from the English side Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of about €2.5 million. He signed an 18-month contract at the time that included a provision for a further season.
Turkish newspapers Sabah and Fanatik reported the clause was linked to a set number of starting appearances, a target the midfielder is on course to meet. Head coach Okan Buruk supported the renewal, with the technical staff identifying Lemina's competitive level and leadership as reasons to keep him as part of the plans to preserve the squad core ahead of next season.
The midfielder is in his second spell in Istanbul after a loan in the 2019-20 season, during which he made 28 appearances for the club. Since returning permanently, he has featured in 14 official matches in the 2025-26 campaign.
Lemina has 43 caps for Gabon and is listed with a current market value of €5 million. Reports place his salary at Galatasaray at an estimated €3.1 million per year. The club finalized the extension in early May.
