Victor Osimhen Speaks After Galatasaray 1-4 Samsunspor Loss

Victor Osimhen speaking to Turkish media after Galatasaray's 1-4 loss to Samsunspor

Galatasaray missed the chance to clinch the Turkish Süper Lig title on Saturday after suffering a 4-1 defeat away to Samsunspor. The league leaders arrived in Samsun needing victory to secure a record 26th championship, but were overwhelmed by the seventh-placed hosts.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen provided the assist for Yunus Akgün's goal, but Galatasaray conceded four times and were reduced to ten men following a red card for goalkeeper Günay Güvenç in what became their heaviest league loss of the season.

Speaking after the match, Osimhen called for focus ahead of the final games. "We don't have to get stuck here. We need to keep going," he told reporters. "We want to win our match at home in front of our fans and declare the championship. Nothing has changed for me, and my team will give everything in the upcoming matches." The striker, who has 20 league goals this campaign, insisted the title race remains in Galatasaray's control despite the setback.

He also defended the team's preparation for the fixture, which had been billed as a potential title decider. "We put on an incredible performance against our rivals. We actually think it was a match that brought the championship. We prepare well for every match, and we had prepared well for this one too. We don't need to dwell on this; we need to keep moving forward," Osimhen said. The defeat leaves Galatasaray on 74 points, four ahead of Fenerbahçe with two matches remaining.
