Samsunspor defeated league leaders Galatasaray 4-1

Samsunspor defeated league leaders Galatasaray 4-1 on 2 May 2026 at Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Turkish winger Yunus Akgün opened the scoring for Galatasaray in the 9th minute before Chadian forward Marius Mouandilmadji equalised for Samsunspor in the 22nd minute. Senegalese striker Cherif Ndiaye put the hosts ahead in the 57th minute, Mouandilmadji added his second in the 71st minute, and Ndiaye completed his brace in the 82nd minute.

German-Turkish goalkeeper Günay Güvenç was sent off for Galatasaray in the 63rd minute. Referee Reşat Onur Coşkunses officiated at Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium, where Galatasaray led until the 22nd minute. Mouandilmadji's goals took his league tally to five for the season, while Ndiaye's brace lifted him to four.

The defeat leaves Galatasaray top of the Süper Lig with 74 points from 31 matches and a goal difference of plus 49, having scored 72 and conceded 23. Samsunspor climb to seventh place with 45 points from 31 matches, recording 39 goals for and 41 against for a minus-two difference, strengthening their challenge for European qualification with five games remaining.

Galatasaray will host Antalyaspor at Rams Park on 9 May 2026 in their next Süper Lig fixture.
