Former Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has dismissed speculation linking Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior with a move to Arsenal.

Mikel addressed the rumours on his Obi One Podcast this week, in a clip that has circulated on social media. He said the Brazilian is not set to join the Premier League champions and that the link is being used as leverage in contract negotiations.

"He's not coming. Forget about that. He's just using Arsenal to get a better deal. He's not leaving Real Madrid... I'm sure about that. One hundred per cent," Mikel said.

The comments come amid ongoing uncertainty over Vinicius Junior's future in Madrid. The 26-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract, which expires in June 2027, after eight seasons with the club.

Reports in Spain and England indicate Real Madrid have made a new offer to extend his deal, but talks have stalled for months over wage demands. Arsenal have been credited with an interest in exploring a move, with no formal club-to-club talks confirmed, as Mikel Arteta's side looks to strengthen after winning the Premier League title. Real Madrid, who are reluctant to lose the winger for free, have not indicated they will sell this summer.
