Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as Manchester United recovered to defeat Atlético Madrid 2-1 in a club friendly at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on 1 August 2026, securing the Snapdragon Cup after trailing early.

Spanish winger Arnau Ortiz opened the scoring for Atlético Madrid in the fifth minute when his cross from a short corner sailed into the far corner. United absorbed the early setback, controlled large periods of the first half, and completed a second-half comeback.

Manchester United finished third in the 2025-26 Premier League with 71 points and a goal difference of plus 19, securing Champions League qualification for the new season under manager Michael Carrick.

Manchester United face Paris Saint-Germain in their next pre-season friendly on 8 August 2026 in Gothenburg.
