Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the FA Community Shield on Sunday 16 August 2026 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, securing the season curtain-raiser as Premier League champions against the FA Cup holders.

Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori scored in the first minute assisted by Myles Lewis-Skelly, German forward Kai Havertz headed the second in the 28th minute assisted by Christos Tzolis, and Norwegian midfielder Martin Ødegaard finished in the 48th minute assisted by Tzolis. 

Arsenal controlled proceedings throughout after the early breakthrough and maintained dominance after the interval.

Arsenal enter the new campaign as defending Premier League champions following their title win last season. The Community Shield success marks their 18th triumph in the competition and provides an early trophy ahead of the league defence.

Arsenal next face Coventry City at home on Friday 21 August 2026 in their Premier League opening fixture of the 2026-27 season.
