A viral social media post claiming that Lamine Yamal's girlfriend left a five-year relationship to date the Spanish star has resurfaced online as Spain celebrated its 2026 FIFA World Cup victory.
The post, originally shared by an Instagram page mazitundeednut, alleged that García ended her relationship with a man identified in online reports as Gonzalo Torres after receiving an Instagram DM from Yamal.
According to the viral narrative, she then went on to celebrate Spain's World Cup win by his side as his full-time girlfriend. The claim gained renewed traction in the days leading up to the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19, 2026, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time.
According to reports, the woman in question is Inés García, a 21-year-old influencer from Seville, Spain, known for fashion, beauty and lifestyle content. Sports Brief and other outlets reported in May 2026 that García was photographed with Yamal, 19, during a vacation in Greece on May 19, 2026, which intensified dating rumors following earlier sightings in Barcelona.
What really happened, according to García herself, is different. Responding directly on her Instagram Stories on May 19, 2026, García denied ever being in a five-year relationship with her friend Gonzalo and leaving him for Yamal. “It doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t have any consistency. We can all talk for the sake of talking but this is just silly,” she said.
In a separate interview, she said she and Yamal met on social media and spent a long time talking before meeting in person, dismissing viral stories about a chance shopping encounter.
