Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali's proposed move to Tanzanian champions Simba SC has collapsed after weeks of advanced negotiations.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international, who became a free agent following his exit from South African club Chippa United in February 2026, had been heavily linked with the Dar es Salaam giants as they looked to strengthen ahead of next season. Talks betweIn both parties progressed to the final stage, with expectations in Tanzania that a deal was close. Nevertheless, Simba has now ended the pursuit, closing a transfer chase that dates back to earlier in the year.
What actually happened was a breakdown over personal terms. According to reports from South Africa and Tanzania, Simba withdrew after failing to reach an agreement on Nwabali's salary and overall contract package. The club had monitored the goalkeeper since his time at Chippa United and made a serious push to sign him, but officials concluded the financial demands were beyond their structure.
A source familiar with the discussions told local media the club wanted the goalkeeper but found his requests too high. "They really wanted to sign him in January, but it did not happen and they have moved on from him," the source said. "The demands from his side were too exorbitant." Simba was unwilling to meet the package and has formally moved on.
