Nottingham Forest stun Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge

Igor Jesus goal celebration against Chelsea

Nottingham Forest defeated Chelsea 3-1 on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Stamford Bridge in London.

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, finishing low after a defensive mix-up. Brazilian forward Igor Jesus made it 2-0 in the 15th minute from the penalty spot. Awoniyi struck again in the 52nd minute, heading in from close range after a cross. Brazilian forward João Pedro pulled a goal back for Chelsea in the third minute of added time, 90+3, converting inside the box following a lay-off. Forest controlled the first half with early intensity, then defended compactly in the second before absorbing late Chelsea pressure.

Chelsea remain eighth in the Premier League with 48 points from 34 matches and a goal difference of plus eight, their European hopes fading after a poor run of form. Nottingham Forest climb to 16th with 36 points from 33 games and a goal difference of minus nine, moving further clear of the relegation places as their unbeaten run continues.

Nottingham Forest would return to action on Wednesday, May 7, 2026, away to Aston Villa in the Europa League semi-final second leg at Villa Park, seeking a place in the Istanbul final.
