Emmanuel Petit believes Victor Osimhen is the striker Chelsea need to finally fix their attack. Speaking to Andy's Bet Club, the former France and Chelsea midfielder, said the club has not properly replaced Didier Drogba in over a decade.
He pointed to a long list of forwards who arrived at Stamford Bridge with big reputations but failed to deliver regular goals. According to Petit, the problem is not just talent but consistency, and he thinks the Nigerian international offers both. He described Osimhen as a natural leader in the final third who could give Chelsea a clear focal point again.
Petit also commented on Osimhen's career choice after Napoli. He praised the forward's impact at Galatasaray, remarking his scoring record in Turkey has remained strong. Yet, he admitted he was expecting a Premier League move instead. He said he did not understand why Osimhen accepted the Turkish switch when English clubs were monitoring him. Petit used that moment to reflect on Chelsea's own transfer record, saying the No.9 shirt at the Bridge has become heavy for new signings since Drogba left, with pressure building quickly after a few poor games.
What gives Petit confidence is Osimhen's character. He called the 26-year-old brave, self-assured and able to handle criticism, qualities he feels are essential in west London. In his assessment, those mental strengths mirror what made Drogba successful, not only the goals but the way he carried the team in big matches. Petit argued that Osimhen would not be intimidated by Chelsea's recent striker history. If the Blues make a move in the future, he believes they would be signing more than a finisher they would be adding a strong personality who can reset the standard for the position.
