Mohamed Salah Confirms Liverpool Departure and Reflects on Legendary Tenure

Mohamed Salah Speaking to a journalist in Slan Sports

In an interview with Stan Sport, Mohamed Salah has confirmed that he is at peace with his decision to leave Liverpool Football Club at the conclusion of the season.

Reflecting on a transformative nine-year journey at Anfield, the Egyptian forward described the process of moving on as "tricky" but ultimately necessary. Having evolved from a shy prospect at Chelsea into one of the world’s most prolific attackers, Salah expressed gratitude for his time on Merseyside, noting that he has enjoyed the best years of his professional career and personal life while representing the Reds.

Salah emphasized the importance of self-belief and the relentless pursuit of statistical excellence as the driving forces behind his success. Discussing his evolution as a player, he explained that his previous struggles in England catalyzed his growth. “I had to change myself—I had to change how I think, how I look at the world, how I train, how I eat, how I sleep, everything,” Salah shared.

He further stated that his obsession with goals and assists is rooted in a desire to win trophies rather than mere individual glory, asserting that “football is not just about enjoying... It’s a number to provide for the team to make you win something.”

As he prepares for his final matches, Salah highlighted the 2024 Premier League title celebration as his most cherished memory, largely due to the presence of the supporters at Anfield. He also credited the strong cultural foundation established by his longtime teammates for the club's recent era of dominance. Regarding the current squad, he acknowledged the challenge of maintaining that standard during a period of transition. “I really hope that [bond] continues because it’s very tricky with new guys now... we don't have that bond yet because everyone is new,” he remarked.
