Galatasaray forward Barış Alper Yılmaz said after his team’s 3-1 away victory over Göztepe on April 8, 2026, that he deliberately avoids detailed information about his own injuries to manage panic attacks.
The 25-year-old winger, who helped secure the win in the Turkish Süper Lig match, explained his unconventional mindset in a post-game interview.
“I don’t want to get too much information about the injury,” Yılmaz said. “I know myself when I learn something about an injury, I might get stuck on it or something, since I have quite a bit of panic attacks. That’s why you shouldn’t get too much information on that topic.” He added that he does not seek to play through severe pain but follows the club doctor’s guidance for rest when scientifically needed.
The Turkish international, who plays primarily as a left winger and is under contract with Galatasaray until 2028, said his approach is rooted in trusting his body. “Nothing will happen to me that’s what I think, hopefully,” he stated.
