Galatasaray secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Göztepe at Gürsel Aksel Stadium on Tuesday, extending their lead at the top of the Turkish Süper Lig.
The league leaders struck twice in the first half to take control. Barış Alper Yılmaz opened the scoring in the 5th minute after a swift counter-attack, finishing a key pass from Leroy Sané. Just 14 minutes later, Göztepe defender Allan Godoi turned the ball into his own net to double the visitors’ advantage.
Göztepe, currently fifth in the table, scored early in the second half. Juan Santos pulled one back in the 50th minute, assisted by Novatus Miroshi, briefly reigniting the home side’s hopes.
Galatasaray restored their two-goal cushion in the 75th minute when Mario Lemina scored from Gabriel Sara’s assist, effectively having the result. The match ended 1-3 after a relatively comfortable second-half display from the champions-elect.
