Bayern Munich's head coach Vincent Kompany has described Paris Saint-Germain as the top team in Europe following a dramatic Champions League semi-final first leg in Paris.
The German champions were beaten 5-4 on Tuesday night, a result that leaves the tie finely poised ahead of the return in Munich.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, the Belgian manager said his players had faced the continent's benchmark because PSG arrived as holders of the trophy. He refused to write off Bayern's chances despite the one-goal deficit, emphasizing that nothing has been decided over two legs. Kompany said the squad still believes it can progress and that the performance in Paris showed they can compete with the defending champions.
He urged fans to make the stadium count, describing the Munich arena as a venue with a deep history of European comebacks. "We have the perfect stage for the return," he said, adding that the club has produced many of its biggest nights there and could not ask for a better backdrop to try to overturn the result.
