Galatasaray midfielder Ilkay Gündoğan is reportedly considering a transition into coaching once his playing career concludes.
According to journalist Nevzat Dindar, the experienced former Germany international has yet to make a firm decision but is open to pursuing a path on the sidelines after retiring from professional football.
Club management, however, is keen to integrate Gündoğan into head coach Okan Buruk’s technical staff, seeing his leadership and tactical intelligence as valuable assets. While the idea has been discussed internally, no formal agreement has been reached, and the player is said to be focused on his current on-field responsibilities.
Gündoğan intends to continue playing for at least one more season before mapping out his long-term future. The 33-year-old, who joined Galatasaray after a successful spell at Barcelona and Manchester City, has not ruled out coaching but wants to prioritize his remaining time as a player before committing to a new role.
