Tedesco, Moe Clash Over ‘Small Team’ Remark After Fenerbahçe’s 4-0 Win

Domenico Tedesco commented on Erling Moe Super Lig performance

Fenerbahçe cruised to a 4-0 victory over Kayserispor on April 11 in the Turkish Süper Lig, but the post-match comments ignited a war of words between the two coaches.

Domenico Tedesco admitted his side struggled in the first half, explaining that breaking down defensively compact “smaller teams” who park the bus and counter-attack remains football’s toughest task. The win keeps Fenerbahçe firmly in title contention as Week 29 concluded.

Kayserispor manager Erling Moe fired back sharply, rejecting Tedesco’s characterization. “Kayserispor is not a small team. It is not a small city. It is a proud city,” Moe said, calling the remarks disrespectful and unbecoming of a Fenerbahçe coach. He challenged Tedesco to learn more about Turkish football rather than judging solely by the league table.

Moe then turned the spotlight on Fenerbahçe’s trophy drought, questioning the club’s claimed stature. “If Fenerbahçe is as big a club as they say, will they be able to end their years of not winning anything this season?” he said.
