Hasan Şaş Blasts Galatasaray’s ‘Oscar’ Culture After Trabzonspor Loss

Hasan Şaş commented on the Galatasaray dressroom complain

Former Galatasaray winger Hasan Şaş set up an intense critique of the club following their away defeat to Trabzonspor on April 4, 2026.

Speaking on a Turkish sports program immediately after the match, the 49-year-old legend said Galatasaray lost concentration due to excessive sponsor launches, fancy meetings, and off-field distractions. “That place isn’t where Oscars are given,” he stated.

Şaş, who made 234 league appearances for the Lions between 1998 and 2009, warned that the championship could slip away if the team does not refocus. He specifically criticized gathering players for dressed-up promotional events, adding: “This isn’t a modeling place.
This is a football place.”

The blunt assessment comes from a player known for his hard-working, direct style on the pitch. Şas reported that football, despite its professional appearance, must be played with an “amateur spirit.”
