Paris Saint-Germain beat Bayern Munich 5-4 on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at Parc des Princes.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, João Neves, and Ousmane Dembélé scored for PSG in a match that produced nine goals. Bayern fought back but could not equalize.

Speaking after the defeat, Bayern captain Harry Kane said his side refused to give up despite the scoreline.

“In an away semi-final, when you go 5-2 down, the game can easily get out of control,” Kane said. “That is why I am proud of the fight we showed and the character we put on the pitch as the match went on.”

Kane pointed to the team’s mentality while trailing and noted both sides played high-level attacking football with quick transitions.

The result leaves the tie open ahead of the second leg. Bayern will try to overturn the one-goal deficit at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
