Luis Enrique Admits Result Could Have Gone Either Way

PSG head coach Luis Enrique speaks to media at a UEFA Champions League press conference following the semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich

Paris Saint-Germain took a slender advantage in their UEFA Champions League semi-final after a 5-4 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg at Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique gave a frank post-match assessment, saying his side “deserved to win, we would have deserved the draw and we would also have deserved to lose.” The Spaniard pointed to the unpredictable flow of the game, noting it could have gone either way despite PSG holding on for the narrow victory.

The nine-goal contest sees both teams trade blows throughout. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé each scored twice for PSG, with João Neves adding the fifth. Bayern responded through Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, and Luis Díaz.

Luis Enrique added that both sides showed strong attacking quality but left defensive gaps that shaped the scoreline. “It was a game where attacking quality was clear on both ends, and the defensive lapses were punished,” he said.
