Frank Onyeka stunner fires Coventry past Derby 3-2

Frank Onyeka Scored against Derby County

Nigerian international midfielder Frank Onyeka scored an incredible long-range goal for Coventry City in their EFL Championship clash against Derby County on Friday.

Onyeka's goal came in the 12th minute when he unleashed a strong shot from outside the box, assisted by Romain Esse. The strike marked his first for Coventry and ended a long goal drought at club level. Jack Rudoni added two more goals for the hosts in the second half (68' and 80'), while Ben Brereton Diaz scored twice for Derby County to level the score temporarily.

Onyeka joined Coventry City on loan from Premier League side Brentford on February 2, 2026, for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, with an obligation to buy if the club secures promotion.

The move has provided him with regular playing time under manager Frank Lampard, and the goal came in one of his early appearances for the Sky Blues as they chase a return to the top flight.
