Burkina Faso’s military ruler Captain Ibrahim Traore has openly rejected the idea of returning to democratic governance, insisting the West African nation must chart its own path forward.
The 38-year-old leader presented his vision as one rooted in national pride, local traditions, and revolutionary change rather than imported systems that he believes bring more harm than good.
According to reports, the captain instructed citizens to move past any talk of democracy, claiming it does not suit Burkina Faso or much of Africa and often results in violence when forced upon countries.
Traore pointed to Libya as a cautionary tale of instability following external interventions. Traoré further criticised political parties for creating division and described many politicians in the region as dishonest and self-serving.
