Former Barça Coach Luis Enrique Criticizes Mbappé’s Attitude

Luis Enrique, Commented on Kylian Mbappé's behavior in 2026

Luis Enrique, currently PSG head coach, has offered a blunt assessment of Kylian Mbappé’s behavior, arguing that talent alone does not build winning teams.

In a statement, the Spanish manager distinguished between genuine leadership and what he called “control,” suggesting the French star risks overstepping into a “dictatorship” on the pitch. He warned that arrogance can undermine collective performance, regardless of individual skill.

Enrique, who led Barcelona to a historic treble in 2015, emphasized that football punishes players who do not respect teammates or fight alongside them. He contended that a real leader sacrifices rather than demands, and that allowing one player to dictate tactics, movement, and dressing room atmosphere damages team identity. “Does he make teams better, or does he just make himself bigger?” he asked directly.

The coach concluded that until Mbappé changes his mentality, his teams will face a clear ceiling on their achievements. While acknowledging the forward’s extraordinary gifts, Enrique made it clear that authority cannot be confused with talent.
