Gianluca Prestianni has publicly refuted allegations of racism following a controversial incident during Real Madrid match, stating he was unfairly punished without evidence.
In an interview with TeleFe, the Argentine forward expressed that the most painful aspect of the situation was being accused of something he never did. He emphasized that those who know him are aware of his character, adding that he was grateful for the private support he received from Benfica’s coaching staff and teammates, which he valued more than public displays of solidarity.
Prestianni revealed that missing the second leg of the tie was a severe blow, as he felt he was sanctioned based on unproven claims. He reported that he spoke directly with José Mourinho and his teammates to clarify the situation amid widespread rumors.
The player also addressed the escalation of accusations, rejecting claims of homophobia and explaining that common Argentine insults had been misinterpreted, suggesting external parties sought to create drama over misunderstandings.
The forward also responded to Kylian Mbappé, who had labeled him a “fucking racist” during the match, dismissing the remark as an attempt to provoke him. Prestianni firmly stated he has never been and never will be racist, asserting that he chose not to react to the provocation.
