Vini Jr. Backs Neymar as Ancelotti Demands Fitness for Brazil

Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior has publicly endorsed the return of Neymar Jr. to the Brazil national team, calling the former Barcelona forward one of his "biggest idols."

"Neymar is among my biggest idols! He’s trying it all to be at 100% form and to be back with Brazil squad. The decision is up to the coach but we always want to play with the best, and Neymar is among them."

The comments come as the Seleção prepares for the 2026 World Cup, with Vini Jr. emphasizing that while the final decision rests with the coaching staff, the squad remains eager to play alongside the best talent available.

The endorsement follows head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s recent squad announcement for high-profile friendlies, where Neymar was notably excluded. Ancelotti addressed the omission directly, stating, "It is a physical issue, not technical. With the ball he is great, but he needs to improve physically." The Italian coach emphasized that the staff is prioritizing match-ready players who are at 100% fitness as the team enters its final preparations.

Ancelotti’s disciplined approach signals a focus on current form over reputation. The squad’s readiness will be tested soon, beginning with a marquee friendly against France scheduled for March 26, 2026.
