The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has officially filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to contest the decision to strip the nation of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title. Registered on March 25, 2026, the appeal seeks to set aside a recent ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that awarded the championship to Morocco.
The controversy stems from the AFCON final held in January, where Senegal defeated Morocco 1–0 on the pitch. However, CAF later overturned this result, awarding Morocco a 3–0 forfeit victory. The disciplinary action was based on a brief period during the match when Senegalese players walked off the field in protest of a refereeing decision, which CAF ruled constituted a violation of tournament regulations regarding misconduct and forfeiture.
The FSF has requested that CAS restore Senegal as the original winners and annul the CAF verdict, which they describe as an "unjust and unprecedented" interference with on-field results. An arbitral panel will now be appointed to review the evidence and establish a procedural calendar.
