Following a massive performance in which Fede Valverde scored three goals against Manchester City, former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti proudly remarked that it is a shame the Uruguayan midfielder does not have a Brazilian passport.
According to Marca, the Brazilian coach reportedly revealed a long-standing bet he made with Valverde years ago regarding goal-scoring expectations. "I made a bet with Fede years ago that he'd score 10 goals in a season—or I'd revoke my coaching license," Ancelotti told the publication.
The remark and the revelation of the bet come as Valverde enjoys a stellar season, consistently finding the back of the net and acting as a key engine for Real Madrid. "I've sent a message to Fede Valverde... I told him: it's a shame you don't have a Brazilian passport!" Ancelotti added, explaining his earlier comment.
