The Premier League has officially sanctioned Chelsea Football Club following an investigation into financial irregularities occurring between 2011 and 2018. The league confirmed on Monday 16, 2026.

The London club has been fined £10.75 million, the largest financial penalty in the competition's history. These charges relate to "secret payments" made to agents and third parties during the previous ownership era, which were not disclosed in the club’s annual financial filings.

According to Sky Sports report, the English club has been handed a one-year transfer ban suspended for two years, alongside an immediate nine-month ban on signing academy players. The suspended nature of the senior ban means Chelsea can still recruit first-team players in the upcoming windows, provided they commit no further breaches during the two-year probationary period.

The Premier League noted that the current ownership group’s decision to self-report these historical discrepancies played a considerable role in the final ruling. By proactively disclosing the errors found during the 2022 takeover, the club avoided a more severe sporting sanction, such as an immediate points deduction.
