Rossi Rejects Slot’s Request to Rotate Liverpool’s Players

Marco Rossi speaking on Sky Sports TV

Hungary head coach Marco Rossi has issued a firm response to Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s recent appeal for national team coaches to limit player minutes during the international break.

Slot had publicly expressed hope that his stars, including Dominik Szoboszlai, would not play the full 180 minutes across two friendly matches to avoid burnout. Rossi, however, dismissed the suggestion, emphasizing that he does not take instructions from club managers regarding his squad selection or tactical decisions.

Rossi pointed out that he has never personally spoken to Slot and therefore never interfered with how Liverpool utilizes Szoboszlai, specifically referencing the midfielder's occasional deployment as a defender this season. "I would also expect him not to interfere in my work," Rossi stated, making it clear that his priority is securing results for Hungary in their upcoming fixtures against Slovenia and Greece rather than managing Liverpool's injury risks.
