Nigeria Edges Iran 2–1 in International Friendly

Moses Simon present in Iran vs Nigeria

Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory against Iran on Friday, March 27, 2026. The international friendly, which served as part of a four-nation invitational tournament, was held at Corendon Airlines Park in Antalya, Turkey.

Originally scheduled for Amman, Jordan, the fixture was relocated to Antalya due to ongoing security concerns in the Middle East.

The Super Eagles dominated the early proceedings, finding the back of the net just six minutes into the match. Moses Simon opened the scoring with a clinical strike to give Nigeria a 1–0 lead heading into the halftime break.

The momentum stayed with the Nigerian side early in the second half, as Akor Adams doubled the advantage in the 51st minute, finishing calmly following a well-placed assist from Ademola Lookman.

Star forward Mehdi Taremi managed to pull one back for his side, narrowing the gap and creating a tense final period. To maintain the lead, Nigeria executed a triple substitution in the 69th minute, bringing on Paul Onuachu, Chidera Ejuke, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
