Following the bombshell ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title a decision the Senegalese Football Federation has slammed as “unfair, unprecedented, and Pep Guardiola has weighed in on the growing controversy.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester City manager reportedly stated, “I don’t know the reason behind it, but these things keep happening without any real explanation. The clubs and the players are always the last to know.”
Pep Guardiola says he was caught off guard by the recent AFCON decision, admitting the news came as a surprise to him and plenty of others across the football world.
The Manchester City manager questioned the lack of clarity around the ruling, suggesting those pulling the strings haven’t done much to explain their thinking. “I don’t know the reason… but it’s a decision made behind-the-scenes,” he said.
