Drogba Blasts CAF for 'Insane' Ruling That Stripped Senegal

Drogba speaking to Sporty TV

Didier Drogba has launched a passionate criticism of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following its decision to overturn Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations victory over Morocco.

The Chelsea legend took to social media to express his dismay, stating that a "decision taken in a boardroom" has unfairly erased a "victory earned on the pitch."

Drogba argued that the ruling, which came months after the final whistle, damages the credibility of African football. He warned that such actions give critics reason to "belittle the Africa Cup of Nations" and label the continent's organization as chaotic. The Ivorian icon emphasized that the issue extends beyond a single trophy, striking at the "dignity and soul" of the sport in Africa.

Calling for strong leadership, Drogba urged CAF to prioritize transparency and stability to protect the game's future. While acknowledging the option to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, he insisted that African football must build stronger foundations so that "uncertainty and politics" do not continue to rob players and fans of their joy. "We are giants," he concluded, "and giants must stand tall together."
