Cantor Questions Osimhen's Turkish Move After Galatasaray Loss

Cantor's statement against Osimhen

Nico Cantor, a prominent soccer host and analyst for CBS Sports, recently stirred discussion with a strong commentary on Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen and his career choice at Galatasaray. Cantor, who hosts The Golazo Show and covers UEFA Champions League, offered his assessment on the highly-rated striker's place in the Turkish Süper Lig, implying his talent surpasses the league's competitive level.

The controversy erupted following a conversation on the CBS Sports Golazo show, where analysts were discussing Galatasaray's recent 1-0 defeat against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League, a match Osimhen missed due to injury. Reflecting on the significance of the Nigerian’s absence and his overall quality, Cantor stated: “I look at Victor Osimhen, and with all due respect, I think he's too good to be playing at Galatasaray.”This fierce sentiment, which was shared via CBS Sports Golazo's social media, suggests the analyst believes Osimhen's exceptional skills and proven track record belong in one of Europe’s top-five leagues, like the Premier League or La Liga, despite Galatasaray's strong standing in Turkish football.

Nico Commented on Osimhen's Laliga Level

Victor Osimhen's move to Galatasaray was finalized as a permanent transfer on July 31, 2025, from Napoli for a Turkish record-breaking fee of €75 million (around $85.74 million), after an initial successful loan spell in the 2024-2025 season. As of the end of the 2024-2025 season, including his loan, and into the current 2025-2026 campaign, Osimhen has made a total of 53 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish club. During this time, he has established himself as a prolific scorer, netting a total of 46 goals and providing 8 assists for Galatasaray, a significant contribution to their domestic and European efforts.
