Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare is set to join Dutch club AFC Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of next season.
The agreement, reached in late July 2026, will see Ajax pay an initial loan fee of €1.17 million, equivalent to around £1 million, and assume full responsibility for the player's wages.
Reports indicate the 25-year-old earns €4.56 million per year. The deal includes a buy-option valued at €22 million, or about £17 million, plus additional bonuses of up to £500,000 if Ajax qualifies for European competition.
Ajax, which finished in the European play-off places in the Eredivisie last season and is currently competing in the Conference League qualifiers, is expected to complete a medical before finalizing the transfer.
His proposed move follows a difficult pre-season under new manager Cesar Peixoto, where he did not feature in friendly matches against Maidenhead United and Real Sociedad.
Wolves had previously accepted a loan offer from Turkish club Trabzonspor, which the forward declined. The move to Amsterdam offers Arokodare a chance to return to continental football while Wolves prepare for the Championship season.
