Spain forward Lamine Yamal has offered a personal perspective on the pressure of leading his national team at a young age, pointing to his parents' experiences as examples of real hardship.

In an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena SER earlier this month, the Barcelona winger was asked how he handles the expectations of being one of Spain's key players at 18. Yamal responded that he does not feel pressure on the pitch.

He said his mother had him when she was 16 and described that as real pressure, and that his father had to collect items from the streets to provide food for the family. He said his own task is to play football and make supporters happy.
