Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has reached a preliminary agreement with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, according to journalist Alberto Pereiro on Onda Cero.
Speaking on Radioestadio, Pereiro said Konaté has given his commitment to join Madrid, but the transfer is conditional on Pérez winning the club's presidential election on 7 June, where he faces challenger Enrique Riquelme.
Konaté, a 26-year-old French centre-back, is entering the final year of his contract at Anfield, which runs until June 2026. Spanish reports say he has rejected Liverpool's latest renewal proposal and would move to the Bernabéu as a free agent, replicating the strategy Madrid used for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The deal is described as part of a 2026 reinforcement plan backed by head coach Xabi Alonso, who is evaluating defensive options alongside a separate move for Como midfielder Nico Paz.
