Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate is poised to leave the club this summer when his contract expires, ending a five-year association with the Premier League side.

The 27-year-old French international, who joined from RB Leipzig in 2021 for around £36 million, has been unable to reach an agreement on a new deal despite months of negotiations.

Talks between Konate’s representatives and Liverpool officials stalled in recent weeks, with the player now free to sign with any club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Earlier in April, following a Merseyside derby victory, Konate had expressed optimism, stating he was close to an agreement and that staying at Anfield was what he always wanted. However, those discussions ultimately failed to produce a breakthrough.

Konate has established himself as a key defender for Liverpool, forming a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk and contributing to major successes including the Premier League title.
