Albayrak Says Galatasaray Faces Hurdle Repeating Osimhen Transfer

Abdurrahim Albayrak, former vice-president of Galatasaray, said on June 7, 2026 that the Istanbul club would find it “very difficult” to carry out another transfer on the scale of Victor Osimhen’s arrival.

He made the remarks while discussing the club’s ambitions to remain competitive in European football. Albayrak stressed that although Galatasaray continues to target top-level success, financial limits affect its ability to spend at the same level again.

Galatasaray signed Osimhen from Napoli in July 2025 in a deal worth 75 million euros, a record fee for Turkish football. The Nigerian striker agreed to a four-year contract starting with the 2025-2026 season. His package includes 15 million euros net per year, a 1 million euro loyalty payment and 5 million euros for image rights.

Napoli also retained a right to 10% of any future profit from a resale. Albayrak noted the signing drew “global press attention” and said Osimhen made a major impact after joining, having previously helped Galatasaray secure a domestic double in 2024-25.

Albayrak explained that repeating a 75 million euro outlay “a second or third time” is not realistic for the club right now. He said Galatasaray’s management will pursue strong signings, but matching the cost and profile of the Osimhen deal will be challenging.

According to Albayrak, every board at the club shares the goal of lifting the UEFA Champions League. Osimhen, who has three years remaining on his deal, has been linked in media reports to clubs including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal.
