Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has congratulated Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for leading Galatasaray to the Turkish Süper Lig title.
In a statement posted on X on Monday, Obi praised Osimhen for scoring twice in Galatasaray's 4-2 home win over Antalyaspor on Saturday at RAMS Park in Istanbul. The victory secured the club's record 26th league championship and their fourth consecutive title with one match left in the season.
Obi described Osimhen as one of Nigeria's talented exports and said his resilience, discipline and talent continue to inspire young Nigerians. He noted that the striker has remained a proud ambassador for the country on the global stage, bringing honour through his achievements and conduct.
Obi said Nigerians are immensely proud of Osimhen's continued success and joined other fans in celebrating the forward's decisive performance, which included a penalty in the second-half turnaround that sealed the championship.
The former presidential candidate used the moment to highlight the state of sports development in Nigeria. He said the country is blessed with countless talents like Osimhen who are waiting for the right leadership, support and environment to rise and excel. Obi described the persistent neglect of the sports sector as deeply regrettable and called for greater investment to unlock opportunities for youth. He reiterated that balanced growth across all sectors would make a new Nigeria possible and wished Osimhen greater success in the years ahead.
