Plymouth Argyle striker Owen Oseni has received his first invitation to Nigeria's Super Eagles for the Unity Cup in London.
According to reports, Head coach Eric Chelle included the 23-year-old in a refreshed squad that will face Zimbabwe on 26 May at The Valley. The Nigeria Football Federation said the team will feature emerging talents and diaspora-born players. Oseni chose Nigeria ahead of the Republic of Ireland and the Ivory Coast, the two other nations he was eligible to represent.
Born in Waterford, Ireland, to a Nigerian father and an Ivorian mother, Oseni holds a Nigerian passport and has never represented another nation at the youth or senior level. He joined Plymouth in 2025 after a prolific spell at Gateshead and a short stint at St Mirren, and has become a regular in League One.
Chelle is using the Unity Cup to test new options ahead of friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June. Nigeria, the defending champions, will meet Zimbabwe in the semi-final while Jamaica and India contest the other tie.
The four-nation tournament runs from 26 to 30 May. Oseni will join Millwall winger Femi Azeez, Terem Moffi and Rafiu Durosinmi in a youthful attack that offers the Super Eagles a chance to broaden their options.
