Manchester City striker Erling Haaland congratulated Arsenal after the Gunners were confirmed as 2025/26 Premier League champions on Tuesday night.
The title was decided when City drew 1-1 at Bournemouth, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side with an unassailable four-point lead with one match remaining. “Not the ending we hoped for, but we'll use this feeling the right way next season. To every City fan who travelled with us this season, thank you. Congrats to Arsenal for the title,” Haaland stated following the match.
The decisive result came at Vitality Stadium on May 19, 2026. Bournemouth took the lead in the 39th minute through Eli Junior Kroupi, who curled in from Adrien Truffert’s pass. City pressed for an equalizer and found it in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Haaland finished via the post. The 1-1 draw meant City could not catch Arsenal, who had moved to 82 points after beating Burnley 1-0 a day earlier. The result also secured European football for Bournemouth.
Arsenal’s triumph ends a 22-year wait for a league title, their last coming in the 2003/04 “Invincibles” season under Arsène Wenger. It is the club’s 14th English top-flight crown. Players and staff celebrated at the club’s London Colney training ground as news of City’s draw also came through.
