UEFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have formalised an expanded collaboration with a new Memorandum of Understanding that will run until 30 June 2031.
The agreement was signed by UEFA president Aleksander ÄŒeferin and CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe, and builds on historic ties between the two continents.
The MoU sets out joint work across youth and women’s football, coach education, refereeing, governance and development. CAF member associations will be invited to selected UEFA youth competitions, with talks planned on reviving the UEFA–CAF Meridian Cup and reciprocal involvement in the CAF African Schools Championship.
The deal also covers referee exchanges, sharing of technical knowledge through the UEFA Together initiative, access to UEFA Academy programmes, and cooperation on football medicine.
Both presidents said the partnership aims to use football to promote inclusion, opportunity and social cohesion. ÄŒeferin described it as a commitment to expand chances for boys and girls and to advance women’s football and health, while Motsepe said it would strengthen African football’s growth and help make it among the best in the world.
