Galatasaray to Deploy Carbon-Fiber Armor for Osimhen’s Derby Return

Victor Osimhen is on track to return from a right forearm fracture

Victor Osimhen is on track to return from a right forearm fracture by late April 2026, with Galatasaray targeting the Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26.

The Nigerian striker suffered the injury during a Champions League match against Liverpool in mid-to-late March and underwent successful surgery. According to club sources, Osimhen’s recovery has progressed as expected, and he is now being prepared for an accelerated return.

To facilitate his comeback, Galatasaray’s medical staff has developed a custom carbon-fiber arm protector. The device is reportedly five times stronger than steel yet lightweight, designed to shield Osimhen’s healing forearm from direct blows.

The armor has been cleared under FIFA and league regulations, as it poses no risk to other players. The innovation draws comparison to Osimhen’s iconic protective face mask, which he has worn since a previous facial fracture.

Technical director Okan Buruk confirmed Osimhen will miss the Gençlerbirliği match but plans to include him in the starting lineup for the derby against Fenerbahçe.
