Enzo Agent: Madrid Comments Punishment Unfair

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has found himself at the center of a club dispute

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has found himself at the center of a club dispute after commenting during the international break that he would like to live in Madrid one day, describing the Spanish capital as reminiscent of Buenos Aires.

While he did not explicitly say he wanted to leave Chelsea or join Real Madrid, his remarks made in a podcast interview have been interpreted by manager Liam Rosenior as a breach of club loyalty amid ongoing transfer speculation.

Fernández’s agent, Javier Pastore, has strongly defended the player, telling The Athletic that “the punishment is completely unfair.” Pastore clarified that Enzo was simply answering a question about which European city he would like to live in, adding, “He only mentions Madrid, the city… at no point does he say he wants to leave Chelsea or London.” The agent emphasized that no club was mentioned and no transfer request was made.

Despite the agent’s clarification, Chelsea’s management appears to have taken a hard line on the issue, viewing the comments as ill-timed and damaging to team culture.
