Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory over Galatasaray on April 4, 2026, was marred by post-match chaos when Galatasaray defender Abdülkerim Bardakçı received a second yellow card and subsequently a red after the final whistle.
The 31-year-old centre-back, already booked in the 79th minute, became embroiled in a heated verbal exchange with Trabzonspor players and staff near the tunnel area. Reports indicate Bardakçı reacted angrily to alleged insults directed at him by a young Trabzonspor player, later identified as 17-year-old Onuralp Çakıroğlu.
Teammates, including Mauro Icardi, and club officials intervened to prevent the confrontation from escalating into a brawl. Yet, referee Cihan Aydın deemed Bardakçı’s conduct worthy of a second yellow card, resulting in an automatic red card issued.
As a result, Bardakçı will miss Galatasaray’s upcoming Süper Lig match against Göztepe on Wednesday. The suspension leaves Galatasaray without a key centre-back for a crucial fixture, adding further tension to an already heated title race.
