Their Majesties, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, and Olori Atuwatse III, attended the annual Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey on Monday 9th March 2026.
The royal couple participated in the event at the invitation of the Rt Honourable Patricia Scotland KC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, following her recent visit to the Warri Kingdom. The service gathered leaders and representatives from the 56 member states to observe the annual occasion.
Commonwealth Day is an annual event that unites the diverse community of nations to promote cooperation, cultural understanding, and sustainable development. The attendance of the Warri royal couple underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to engaging with global institutions and amplifying the voice of Africa within the Commonwealth.
Following the service at Westminster Abbey, Their Majesties proceeded to St James’s Palace. There, they attended the official Commonwealth Day Reception, where they were graciously hosted by His Majesty King Charles III.
