Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has sparked debate by questioning why the Reds remain heavy favorites in their Champions League tie against Galatasaray.

Speaking with ESPN FC, Nicol expressed disbelief at the current perception of the team, citing Liverpool’s recent domestic slump and their current deficit against the Turkish side.

The pundit’s concerns are amplified by Liverpool’s recent performances, stating, “Liverpool have just capitulated against what is currently the worst team in the Premier League,” Nicol remarked, suggesting that the team is lacking the stability required for a high-stakes European comeback. He argued that their status as "significant favorites" for the match is difficult to comprehend given their recent form.

Central to Nicol’s warning is the presence of Victor Osimhen, who remains a constant threat for the opposition. “And they are 1-nil down to Galatasaray, who have a player like Osimhen upfront, capable of winning any match single-handedly with a moment of magic and brilliance,” he added.
