CAF Awards Morocco AFCON Title After Senegal Forfeit

Morocco's national team against Nigeria

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The CAF Appeal Board ruled that Senegal forfeited the final match, resulting in a 3-0 victory being awarded to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

According to the official statement, the ruling was made in application of Article 84 of the AFCON Regulations. The decision overturns the original result of the final, officially recording a 3-0 win for Morocco and stripping Senegal of their title. CAF confirmed that Senegal is deemed to have forfeited the match, though specific details regarding the infringement have not been disclosed.

With this historic ruling, Morocco is now officially recognized as the AFCON champions. The decision marks a significant shift in the tournament's final standings and solidifies Morocco's place as the African top team for the 2025 edition.
